ScanShark version 1.66

We entered into a cross

Inventory
They have been instumental in making the ScanShark system and
Inventory Science Systems a preferred vendor fot Petrosoft amongst
other POS sytems.

ScanShark Version 164
has been released. It has functions that will let you fine tune
your keyboards performance to the individual user. A faster keyboard
for experienced users or a slowed keyboard for trainees or something
in between, your choice. You can now have more control over warning
beeps. And we've added a Section auto-increment feature. A backup
battery check has been added. Even the oldest ScanSharks still
have many years of battery life but it's a good idea for when
that time comes.
USB drivers have been updated for the PC and we've updated the
ScanShark Communications Portal with more robust USB communications
for electrically noisy environments and we've added a utilities
menu too. It will let you select a range of record to upload
to the PC. It will upload every entry in that range even if it's
been deleted or the ScanShark has been re-initialized. There's
also a diagnostic tool added that checks the compact flash memory
to ensure everything is working at top performance.

A new country to add
to our customers list; Panama.
Assembly in-house is going quite well. I regret not doing this
years ago. An unexpected large Keytracker order came in and it
was easy to switch gears and go into a Keytracker production
run. Within a couple days, their order was on the way. Of course,
smaller orders go out quickly anyway but it's good for everyone
concerned to have that flexibility.
We've added a new product line to our business; replacement keyboards
for ICAL 100R and DC 2.5 inventory machines. These keyboards
are 100% compatible and individually tested. Our keyboards are
actually better than the originals. Besides being brand new,
they have better quality keys and a keycap leveling mechanism
for the larger keys (2X and 3X keys). This ensures a long lifespan
for those keys. And, they have double-shot keycaps that will
last for many years to come.
Those wishing to extend
the lifespan of their older equipment will find this to be a
cost effective alternative to buying new. For just a bit more
than they charge to replace a single keyswitch, you can have
a entire brand new keyboard. This is just another example of
Inventory Science Systems' value-pricing at work.

Wow, 2008 was one wild
year. It was a roller coaster ride for sure but , when it was
all over, it turned out to be our best year ever. The recession
seems more hype than reality. I think we would all be happier
if we just ignored politicians and the press. They all have their
own agenda and their record for accuracy is quite dismal at best.
We expect 2009 to be
a great year for us. A couple of institutional orders have already
been approved and budgeted plus all the small companies that
might need just one or two at a time should result in a very
good year indeed.
We've taken this time
of uneasiness and used it to our advantage. We used to have sub-contractors
assemble the Keytracker and ScanShark. Now we are assembling
them in-house. This has improved our delivery time for larger
orders and saves us money for assembly too.
September 24, 2008
We've added a few new
countries to our sold-to list. Puerto Rico, China and Slovenia
(eastern Europe). The ScanShark program has a new adding machine
function for piece verification, adding time sheets, etc.

Converting our ScanShark
Processing software to be Vista compatible has been completed
and released for quite some time now to great praise. The report
count is now almost 180 reports with new suggestions coming in
and being added all the time. The ScanShark program is now in
version 161. This year looks like it will break all sales records.
The gas price crunch
frightened a lot of people and their initial reaction of stopping
purchases on anything except the bare essentials has passed.
Now that gas prices are dropping and probably will drop further,
normal and even accelerated buying has come back to make up for
lost time.
July 24, 2007
We are hard at work
converting the ScanShark Processing to work with Windows Vista.
The process is going smooth but is very time consuming as every
function needs to be completely tested. Some new features are
being added as well as a number of new reports. The number of
reports will be somewhere between 140 and 150 when all is done.
2007 has already been
our best year ever. ScanSharks sales are very brisk and Keytracker
sales are doing well too.
February 7, 2007
We are finally in our
new place. The move didn't go quite as smooth as we expected.
The movers didn't bring a big enough truck and a one-day move
turned into two. But, the main delays were caused by the phone
company not transferring our phone lines on time. It took a week
and a half for them to get our toll free number connected from
the old place.
The second major delay
was that we couldn't get a proper Internet connection. We expected
to connect using the Blue -Dish satellite Internet but the they
filled up their satellite just before the move and weren't taking
any new customers until they launched another satellite. OK,
we'll try Hughes satellite internet...same story. Dial-up failed
too, it just died after a few seconds of use. Next was Cingular
broadband air-card...even worse than the dial-up. At last we
tried Sprint broadband and it works great, it's nice and fast
and reliable.

December 24, 2006
Our new facilities
are way ahead of schedule. We will be moving in January. That's
3-4 months early ! 2006 was our best year ever and December is
our busiest month ever. The ScanShark is the reason. It has proven
itself to be a great combination of power, ease of use and value
pricing. We can't wait until 2007.
Version 1.23 of the
ScanShark software has been released and we are working on version
1.24. The ScanShark Processing program version 7.0 will be out
soon. It will have more reports added and some handy features
too...more details to come.
August 25, 2006
We are now the proud
owners of a hole in the ground. Excavation has started and we
had a few delays as the power company insisted that we had power
connected even though their own service technician said it wasn't
there. But, it will be hooked up next week. After that, the concrete
for the foundation will be poured and construction will begin.
We should be able to move into our new facilities in April or
May of 2007.
ScanShark software version
1.22 has been released with improved keyboard response. ScanShark
Processing software for the PC Version-6.30 has also been released.
The newest version allows you to scan weighted items with UPC
barcodes (typically meat, cheese, produce, etc.) and have the
embedded price be placed into the Price field for report generation.
This should be a big time saver and increase accuracy on those
inventory counts where it can be used.
April 25, 2006
Construction has been
pushed to May because of all the paperwork and permits required.
ScanShark software version 1.21 has been released featuring improved
data integrity, case constant function and an un-delete operation
and fine tuning of SKU/Price verification.
March 9, 2006
We found land for our
new facilities. At nearly 4 acres, it's large enough to handle
our needs and then some. We plan to start construction in April....
SSP version 6.10 has been released. Added features include the
ability to zero-fill SKU data for numeric SKU's and creating
a SKU Summary file by Section.
January 19, 2006
2005 was our best year
ever and 2006 is well situated to break all sales records. The
ScanShark is the main reason why sales have climbed so high.
ScanShark processing (SSP) version 5.90 has been released. It
has 127 reports built-in.
Our new facilities are
working out well but, as time permits, we are still looking for
land to build a larger place specifically suited to our needs.
September 9, 2005
Because we needed a
larger place right now and finding land and building will take
awhile, we decided to lease a larger place until we can build
the perfect facility. The new office is over three times larger
than our old place. It's located right on a lake and the views
from our office are absolutely stunning. The shop area is also
much larger than our old shop and has plenty of room for storage.
June 13, 2005
The good news is that
2005 is already our best year ever. The bad news is that we are
behind in looking for land to build. The office will be closed
from June 24 through July 11. Once we return, we'll start looking
for land again.
ScanShark Data-Processing
version 5.40 has been released. It has major upgrades to it's
exporting capabilities and now has over 120 reports built-in.
A master "Export to ExcelTM"
function has been added that opens every field and with every
relationship to every other field intact should you ever need
custom reporting or data-exporting functions.
January 12, 2005
We've have needed to
expand our facilities for some time now. The plans are drawn
up and the finances are in place. Next, we will start the process
of searching for the land for building. Once the land is purchased
and permits obtained, we can start building.
December 31, 2004
Between the economy
more than recovering fully from the recession and 9/11 attacks
and ScanShark sales, this has been a boom year for ISS. December
'04 sales are the second highest sales month ever. And 2004 stands
out as by-far our best year ever. We can hardly wait for 2005.
ScanShark Processing
Version 3.35 has been posted for upgrades and Version 1.14 of
the ScanShark software has been released. Check back mid-January
for further releases of both programs. SSP now has 91 reports
built-in.
Best wishes to everyone
and a very prosperous New Year. |
